Distro Update 11/01/11

Lots of stuff marked down. Some new stuff in the distro from Painkiller and Robotic Empire. Also some things on the way from Halo of Flies. In other news, I am still lazy and broke and records haven't started putting themselves out yet. Antilles repress is somewhat in the works and the South Reach 7" has been recorded. The Antilles 12" should be back in print by the end of the year, with the South Reach record not long after.

Romance of Young Tigers - Live

Romance of Young Tigers were an ambient quartet from Dayton, OH that I met through the Juniper Wait. My first exposure to them was their first album, I Have Supped Full on Horrors, which instantly hooked me. Romance always had a style and whole harmonic language completely their own. The band went on to reissue Horrors and release the Marie EP on Magic Bullet Records. Unfortunately they called it quits in 2009, although Seth Graham continues to record and release material as Quilt.

Romance were (and still are) one of my favorite live bands, and the Live CD-R captured them perfectly; it exemplifies their trademark cloud of haunting, rambling musical dialogue played at glacier-moving volume. The set comes from a show at Howard's Club H on May 9 of 2009. I released this on Allergic to Fun in 2010 and comes in a 5x5 envelope hand-screened by Seth Graham. Limited to 150 copies.

Big Post: Grin and Bear It, South Reach, Antilles, Masakari

I've gotten really bad at keeping up with the label over this past year. I had forgotten my username and password for this blogspot, myspace is a complete cluster-fuck ghost town, and I'm still too cool for Facebook and the rest of that whackness out there. With that said though, I've recovered my login stuff for this and hope to be posting/updating at least once a month.

First things first: there are new records on the way! The first of which is the Grin and Bear It 7". Grin and Bear It is a new band I play in with some of the Scum Gherkin dudes. The 7" will be 8 tracks of blistering fast-as-fuck hardcore negativity with a whole lot of grind and powerviolence in there for good measure. You can check out a track here. The second upcoming release is a new 7" from South Reach. South Reach is a two-piece powerhouse from northwestern Ohio. They fall somewhere in the middle of the drum-machine spectrum between Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Big Black; killer heavy riffs mixed with a generous helping of post-punk anxiety and weirdness. Release details are still in the works, but this should be available in the late summer/early fall.

The Antilles s/t 12" is officially all gone. Didn't get one? Don't worry, a second press of 200 is coming soon. Same classic jangly pseudo-screamo/hardcore madness on a new color of wax with a little twist that's being worked out. This will be a co-release with Ice Age Records. You can check out Kris's other releases over at http://theiceageiscoming.net.

Lastly, I never got around to making a legitimate post about the Masakari tape that got released. Last May, Cleveland's Masakari dropped the bombshell that is the Prophet Feeds and I was lucky enough to help them out with the tape version. The album is a serious fucking ripper and picks up just where the 7" left off. The vinyl version is available through Halo of Flies and the CD is out on Southern Lord. Masakari and Halo of Flies also just released the new Sleep/Rot 7" and you can grab one of them at one of their upcoming shows:

NEWS/DISTRO (FEB 25)

There is news!

The Antilles test presses have been received and approved! Word from the pressing plant is that the white vinyl has all been pressed and the black may already be done as well. All we need is a few more pieces of the art puzzle, and this thing should be ready to go. Hopefully these should be ready for the Towers show next Saturday, so come out and snag one. If they don't make it in time, you can just buy more stuff from Towers.

On the bummer side of things, the Straight, No Chaser master (as well as the art) got lost in the mail. Tests were supposed to be ready for SNC's east coast tour in a couple of weeks, but USPS fucked that all up. These should be sent off to the plant soon, so expect to see them in early April. Fuck.

Back on the upside, ATF-003 and -004 have been officially announced!

I'm stoked to be doing Maladie's full-length on tape for ATF's third release. I received the masters recently and this album is fucking SOLID. Maladie rules and this tape should look and sound awesome. This will be a CS-30 and probably be limited to 100 copies. I'd imagine this will be done in late March or early April.

I'm also way excited to be working with Romance of Young Tigers for the fourth release. This one's going to be a live CD-R from their upcoming show at Howard's. Seth gave me the word that they will be playing some new stuff from the album that's due out this Summer. Romance is a great fucking band, and they're truly something to behold live. This one will probably be limited to 150 copies.

Alright, so this thing is official now. I've decided responsibility can wait, but boyhood dreams cannot! So here's what's happening:

ATF-001: Antilles - One-sided 12" EP

The first Allergic To Fun release! This one-sided 12" will feature 4 new songs recorded at Dead Air Studios by Will Killingsworth (Orchid, Ampere, etc.). Features artwork by Apeshit!'s Patrick Berran as well as a silk-screened B-side.

This will be limited to 300 copies, with 200 on black and 100 on white vinyl. This is currently at the pressing plant, so expect to see copies at beginning of March. There will also be some extra test presses available at shows.

Also, Harrison over at Kid Sister just did a small CD-R run of this and it looks awesome. Definitely check it out!

ATF-002: Straight, No Chaser - S/T 7" EP

This 7" will feature tracks from SNC's summer tour CD-R/tape. Some of the most bombastic and erratic punk from this Rochester four-piece not unlike their LP. Very excited for this release. We're currently waiting for the masters and then this one is off to the plant, too. Also limited to 300 copies. Should be out in mid-March just in time for SNC's east coast tour. More details TBA

ATF-003 and ATF-004 are currently in the works, so stay posted!
